"Deserves its 4 star rating"
Very centrally located hotel in an old building thoroughly modernised about 3 years ago. It is an excellent hotel; small but very friendly bar. ALL the staff we met were very cordial, unobtrusive and very helpful. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was well appointed. Plenty of room (room 310).
The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are literally dozens of a good standard within walking distance. Its breakfast room is an oasis of calm; chique modern and an excellent buffet.
We also had a problem with a local restaurant (see review of Spinola Restaurant) and the hotel staff were very helpful. Highly recommended deserving of its 4 stars. Date of visit 15 Feb 7

"Great Break in Brugge"
Great hotel with character, good spacious rooms(we had a triple with our young son) with small balcony, small and quiet garden area, great lounge bar. Hotel was very clean throughout, Excellent hot and cold breakfast. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, could not fault staying at this hotel and will return.
Location is perfect, only 5 minutes walk to the market square and near some very good restaurants.

"Top Drawer"
This hotel is perfect for the discerning visitor and, though it may have it's equal, few will better it.
Staff are friendly and helpful and their recommendations re places to visit, eat etc should be heeded. The rooms are immaculate and public areas first class. Apt and unobtrusive music is played in guest common areas.
Breakfast is first class too. Book it!

"Just like they say...."
This really was a charming and stylish hotel. I could have sworn, for the first day, that we were the only people staying there - until I saw another 20 or so people at breakfast. It's so quiet and private you can get "other wordly" ! It's a thoughtfully refurbished old house, still minimalist enough to be kept spotlessly clean yet with lots of charm in the right places. Yes, it's all true, breakfasts were a great mix of cereal, fruit, ham, cheese, more ham, more fruit, toast, more ham, cheese and then back to bed to sleep it off if you have time!
In summary ... stylish but not snotty. If you are young and think you'll get bored there's a swingin' youth hostel bar across the road - just enough of a staggering distance to keep it at arms length from those of us who sleep after midnight. The only thing I didn't like at first was the picture in the bathroom til my boyfriend pointed out it was a neat little magnifying mirror! All those touches take the Oud Huis to top league. And October was a great time to be there as it was the first quiet week after summer.

"Wonderful Hotel"
A great hotel in a wonderful city. Our room was a nice size and very comfortable and quiet. We did have to walk through the garage to get to our room (the garage was packed with cars and we had big bags so it was hard to maneuver). We were in an annex or something to the main hotel...Maybe because of our non-smoking request. The hotel is very modern compared to most European hotels. It is very close to the center of things so there was no problem walking to all the sites and shops.

"would recommend"
I spent two nights at the hotel and found it delightful-- great room with great overall atmosphere. While it has an old style, the fact that it is a new hotel means that it is very up to date. The only comment I would make is that it is very short staffed at night which seemed odd-- desk staff also opened the bar. I would however really recommend this hotel
