"a great hotel"
Golden Tulip Hotel De Medici was a great hotel. The location was beautiful, my room overlooked the canal. The room was a good size as was the bathroom (with his and hers sinks).
The breakfast was excellent, and free tea and coffee is available in the afternoons for a couple of hours.

"setting was wonderful "
Golden Tulip Hotel De Medici's setting was wonderful overlooking the river. The bar staff were very helpful and quality of the breakfast was good. The rooms were very spacious which we needed with 2 adults and 1 teen sharing.
Just that the hotel bar was very quiet in the evening. Needed to be a bit livelier.

"Clean comfortable rooms "
Clean comfortable rooms with my room over looking the court yard, the hotel has a buffet style breakfast which had lots of choice and you could eat as much as you wanted which was great as most days we skipped lunch! Room has full bath and shower and was clean and really nice. |

"Would recommend and stay again!"
The hotel is a 15-20 min walk. But definetley worth it if you are not too fussed about staying absolutley central.
Also the hotel does not have it own private parking although there is enough public parking spaces near by.Would recommend and stay again!

"We loved it"
My partner and I have just returned from two nights at the Golden Tulip and we thought it was lovely. I had requested a room with a view and wow ~ did we get a view. We were at the front of the hotel on the first floor with a view over the canal. The windows were huge and opened fully so you could sit in the window sill and just admire what you could see.
We chose to pay the five euros charge for breakfast to be delivered to our room, which, in my opinion, was worth it. To be able to sit at our window and eat our breakfast was lovely.
We used the leisure facilities twice and to sit in the whirlpool when
you've walked all day was heaven and then top it off with a sauna or use of the steam room, fantastic!
The weather was gorgeous, three beautifully warm and sunny days when it was warm enough for t-shirts. We wandered around the streets and canals, stopping every now and then for a coffee or a beer which we enjoyed in the sunshine.

"Comfortable, good location"
Stayed here for two nights during a short break to Bruges. The hotel is a short distance north of the city centre, in a quiet residential district overlooking a canal. The walk to the major tourist destinations takes 10 minutes and follows quiet, cobbled streets with lovely views.
The hotel is quite large, with three wings surrounding a central Japanese garden. The interior is modern, and it clearly caters as much to business travellers and conferences as to tourists. Our room was large and comfortable, although the decor was a little dated. The bathroom was a reasonable size, and very clean.
Breakfast was a good selection of cereals, bread, pastries, juice and fruit, with bacon, egg and sausages forming a hot choice.
All the staff were friendly, efficient, and along with everyone we met, spoke excellent English.
Only drawbacks were the awful pillows that another reviewer mentioned, and the extra charge to use the sports facilities (€12 per room). Although there was noise from the next door secondary school (particularly the sports hall), we didn't find this disturbed us.
Buses 4 and 14 go direct from the train station to the bridge opposite the hotel (from where I took the exterior photo).
Overall, I would recommend the De'Medici, although it could be accused of being bland and the same as any other hotel in this class across Europe, it is clean, comfortable, and well-run.

"Excellent Hotel and Location"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel in March 07. We booked direct and I must admit we were both really pleased. Clean comfortable rooms with our room over looking the court yard, the hotel has a buffet style breakfast which had lots of choice and you could eat as much as you wanted which was great as most days we skipped lunch! Room has full bath and shower and was clean and really nice, this hotel had was a great location around a 10 min walk to the main square which for us was not a problem as it was nice to be out of it a little bit. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. My only moan would be for people not to use the internet at the hotel is not cheap!. I booked this hotel on reading posts from others who have stayed there and I can confirm that I was not disappointed.
I would also suggest to anyone booking to check costs direct with the hotel we did and it worked out a lot cheaper than booking through another company, you have to pay locally in euros but for us this was not a problem as we managed to get the hotel a third cheaper by booking direct.

We spent a weekend at this hotel recently. The location is lovely, on the canal, and the area is very quiet and just a short distance away from the square. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room was a good size and nice and warm!Breakfast was very good as well. Would definitely stay again! |
